Not only technical skills are sufficient to become DATA SCIENTIST,other from it certain things are required which are equally important as technical skills,without them your technical skills are waste.They are :

• Story Telling Skill: As you are data scientist,you have a excellent skill of story telling,means whatever the research or results you found,you present them in a great way by making a interesting story,so client understand it easily.

• Communication Skills: You need to be good in communication skills as it is primary demand of a data scientist or analyst to deal with clients,in project management it is must

• Python Or R:Python Or R are great tools for play with data and data structures,but my suggestion is that python is best than R,as it have many inbuilt modules like numpy,pandas,matplotlib etc which makes your work easy.And R is a stasistical tool ,if you go with it,it is nice.

• Sql:Sql is tool for play with databases,For database management it is required to make in practice.

Mathematical Skills:

• Statistics Knowledge
• General Probability Skills
• Algorithm Skills which used in model preparation

Other Skills

• Machine Learning:M.L is a emerging technology and is the sub field of Artificial Intelligence,It helps data scientist in model preparation and model evaluation.Various Libraries are there like "Sklearn","Tensorflow" etc which you learn how to use them helps you a great.

• DATA ANALYSIS and DATA VISUALISATION:These both are beautiful skills which are required to a "DATA SCIENTIST",as it helps in analysis and visualisation of a data.For Analysis we use python modules(Numpy,Pandas ) and for visualisation which I like the most (Matplotlib,Seaborn,Ploty etc) are required. 

• Data Collection:The First step towards any work is requirement of data,so you must know how to collect data,various techniques are there to collect data like "WEB SCRAPPING"which extract data from various web pages which don't have api's etc.

• Data Cleaning:You have to know how to make data suitable for analysis,for that you have to know how to clean data and make it in a structured format so that it can be analyse easily.

• Data Mining:Data mining is a great part of data science ,in this you have to curious towards your work,you need to mine data and interpret great results from it."A GREAT DATA SCIENTIST HAS ONE PROOF THAT THE RESULTS HE/SHE INTERPRET ARE BEST AND OPTIMAL"

• Data Warehousing:A data warehouse is a central repository of information that can be analyzed to make better informed decisions. Data flows into a data warehouse from transactional systems, Business analysts, data scientists, and decision makers access the data through thes analytics applications.
